In which today's story offers a bit of relationship advice

 Two Friends (Laos)

Two friends were in the forest when suddenly they heard a bear.

Frightened and thinking only of himself, the largest boy ran to the closest tree and climbed high up in the branches to safety.

The other boy was smaller and couldn’t climb well.  He threw himself down on the ground and pretended to be dead.

The bear approached the smaller boy and circled round his body.  He put his big hairy head up close to the boy’s face for a long time, and then turned and walked away.

After a long time, the boy in the tree came down and ran to the other, asking “What was that bear doing?  He stayed near you for so long.”

The smaller boy replied, “He was talking to me.  He gave me good advice.

“He said, ‘Don’t trust someone who doesn’t help you in time of danger.’”
