In which the horses earn extra cookies, and we are ridiculous

Did somebody say "COSTUMES"?

I love costumes.  The Dragon loves the cookies she earns for wearing costumes

I know a lot of people are missing their winter holiday traditions--
especially the parts that include getting together with lots of people.

I miss some of those things too.

Patty is a willing participant in the December Ridiculousness

But there are some things we can still do--including the celebration of the Antler Humiliation Festival!

Fish Creek is a good place to dress up ponies in festive apparel and take pictures.

Hana knows the rule:  wear the outfit, get cookies.

Patty looks adorable.  Ariana looks...kinda elegant, actually.

We've done this whole "dress up and take photos" in the past, with the help of Santa Jim.

Usual Suspects, 2014

Santa Jim is VERY BUSY these days, doing online Santa visits.

In between online visits, I snapped a photo

He recorded a greeting and a story for a class in Florida!

If you want to sign your family up for a bit of jolly with Santa Jim, the link is HERE.  You can also contact him if you'd like to sponsor a visit with Santa for a family that can't afford one.

For most of us this year, it's all about the ponies.

Hope is a holiday glamour girl

Goats add another layer of ridiculousness

The dogs aren't wearing outfits...yet.  Their time will come.

I require my costumes to actually work in action--which means the antlers have to stay upright, the lights have to stay lit, and my helmet has to be comfortable.
Here's a link to a FB video showing the purple antlers at speed.
They don't slow the Dragon down even a little bit.

The Snohomish County Executive Horse Council organized a costume ride at Lord Hill Park last weekend.

We were afraid we'd be rained out...but the weather was clear (AND VERY COLD) instead.

So. Many. Warm. Layers!

Not everyone decorates so extensively, but most folks were happy to throw on a bit of tinsel before heading out on the trail.

We did see sunshine...briefly.  But most of the trails were in the shade.
I was glad for my layers of wool, fleece, down, and handwarmers!

A new fan of the Dragon

Antlers for Everybody!

How about, Dear  Deer Readers?  Are you ridiculous yet?
