In which there are lots of changes--and I think they are all good changes

In the news from the "Long Time Coming Department":

She looks a little rattled, but she traded him a check for the
Arabian Horse Registration paperwork.

Jim sold a horse, and Duana bought one.

Du has been care-leasing Hana since late summer, with the intent to buy her "for really" in the Spring.  But she couldn't wait that long.
Champagne!

We celebrated.

Jim will be hunting for another horse in a few months.  We intend to go up to Greener Pastures to see if we can find something Sensible.  Stay tuned on that.

More changes at home:

This used to be Will's bedroom, but he's grown up and moved out!  He's living in town now, close to his job and his friends.  We miss him, but he's sure having fun being a "city guy" again.

Office decor includes treadmill, life-sized Captain Jack Sparrow
and electric parrots in the window. I told Will that
I won't paint the room PINK until summer,
just in case he wants to come back and live with us again.

We don't think if it as losing a son as much as gaining a room. Now Jim and I have an office!

Theoretically, now that I have an office, I would want to spend a lot of time in it, sitting at my desk (or walking on the treadmill) and writing stuff.

However:

Check out the blue sky!

Out to the trails we go!   Here's the MMR report.  13 miles in about 2.5 hours, with lots of steep elevation changes.

We trotted up the hill, on the sunny side...

...and also on the dark side.

We walked the downhills, both to give the ponies a break and to get ourselves a little more exercise.

Despite the bright skies, it is not warm.

Yes, that white stuff on the ground is sn*w.
The top of the Hill is close to 2,000 feet in elevation.
(Haiku Farm is at 320 feet).

We kept moving to keep from getting chilled.

The best views always have ears at the bottom

On the way back to the trailer, we saw a Blob.  We see those a lot this time of year.

Fiddle doesn't worry much about eagles.
Ducks are another matter entirely.  Ducks are dangerous.

Telephoto/cropped version of the Blob.
No ducks in sight.

By the time I get home, it's time to curl up in my office and write some stuff...which brings us up to the moment!

Life. Is. Good.

  1. Wowk, congratulations to Duanna and her new mare! How exciting that another STB might be joining your household too.

  2. So of course I had to go hop on over to Greener Pastures and look at what they have available. I like Serenity Sam- he's got a cute face. Too funny though that all of the currently available horses are bay or brown. They come in other colors too, right?

    1. Brown is pretty much the color of an American or Canadian standie. There are a few greys, but they aren't common. More deets here: http://haikufarm.blogspot.com/2009/06/in-which-i-answer-question-what-is.html

  4. Awesome! Woozel and I congratulate Hana and Duana, and wish the many many happy miles and hugs together! Looking forward to the new adventures.
The problem with children, that I have been unable to thwart scientifically, is they grow into adults. Lee-lee is 18 this month, and Micah will be 18 in June. Both graduating from high school. I keep telling them they will still have to put their heads in my lap when they're 40. Somehow I don't think they'll be listening....

  5. Congratulations to Duana & Jim too! Love seeing the views from the "hill" even if I didn't make the ride! Remember how that empty room felt... Good Luck with that! :-)
