In which we go riding and contemplate some nice French philosophy

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret:
it is only with the heart that one can see rightly,
what is essential is invisible to the eye.

  2. Seeing that buck would have been so cool! See does all the time....but rarely a buck, let alone a 4 pt. Hope you didn't get rained on! :)

  3. Did they remain calm or were they skittish at the deer?

  4. I wouldn't have spotted that deer if you hadn't pointed it out. Wonder what I'm missing when I ride. LOL

  5. Hana and Fiddle point out deer all the time. The best time to see them up and moving around is in the few hours before sunset, though--which was when we rode on Friday because I waited for Jim to get off work and had the rig hitched and waiting for him when he got home. "Change clothes and come ON!"

The mares don't spook at deer much. Toad used to spook at them all the time, even when I would say things like "there's a deer up there, do you see it?" But Toad also spooked at air, there was really no helping him.
